How did MyEd come about?

MyEd was born out of a desire to to create a unique service to benefit society by reducing the time and increasing the ease with which parents can make the most important decisions about their children's education.

We know from our own experience how difficult it can be for parents to make informed decisions about the best day nurseries, schools and colleges for their children. There are so many questions a parent has....What are the options? What’s on offer at that school or nursery? What makes them different from the rest? Where would my child really thrive? Are they likely to get a place?

We have invested heavily in the research and development of MyEd. We have conducted in depth research amongst parents/carers, teachers, heads/managers and local authority school admissions services to gain a thorough understanding of the challenges they all face in gaining access to information and data to make informed decisions and improve admissions processes.  We have developed, tested and refined MyEd service in close collaboration with nurseries, schools and local authorities, in particular with Birmingham City Council.  Supported by Innovate UK funding, we've worked closely with leading experts in data and software development at the Open Data Institute (ODI) to create a unique service to benefit society by reducing the time and increasing the ease with which parents can make the most important decisions about their children's education.
